Understanding the Water-Rock Interaction Processes in Geothermal Systems
About My Research
The acquisition of a stable isotope analyzer for water was a wise decision, since there are few pieces of equipment like this in Mexico (easy to use, robust, fast, does not require sample treatment, with relatively cheap consumables). In addition, the application of stable isotopes in Mexico opens the window to many lines of research such as geothermal energy (in exploration and monitoring of exploitation), environmental studies, volcanological studies, etc.
How Picarro Analyzers Helped
Analysis of the isotopic ratio of stable elements in water using the Picarro analyzer has helped to understand the water-rock interaction processes in geothermal systems, has facilitated geothermal exploration studies, and has helped to understand the influence of a thermal system on groundwater. In addition, human resources have been trained in issues of the application of stable isotopes of water applied to geothermal energy and groundwater studies. Finally, we have opened a window to establish the state meteoric water line.
