Deepening the Understanding of CH4 Vertical Transport in the Atmosphere over India

About My Research

We purchased G2401-m in 2014 for our aircraft campaign at different locations in India. We found very interesting features of Methane (CH4) concentration vertical profiles. We validated several model simulations with these observed profiles and found that observations have greatly helped in understanding CH4 vertical transport over India.

How Picarro Analyzers Helped

We used two G2401 instruments to understand GHG variability in lower atmosphere in an urban location. One instrument was at the ground and another was on the 11th floor of a building (approx 30 meters high). We have found many interesting seasonal features about GHG variability in the first layers of the atmosphere. Recently we have installed G2401 and G2201-i analyzers in a lab located near a 72-meter tower in central India. Air is sampled from different heights. We are very much interested to understand GHG variability in the first 100 meters of the atmosphere in central India.
